I was born on September 17th, 1979 in Kurikka, located in western Finland which is called Ostrobothnia. Please do click the links if you want to know what's it like to live in this part of the world.

My father's side of the family, Jäskes, are originally from Metsäpirtti, Karelia, from where they had to move to other side of the Finland as refugees because of the II World War. My mother's family is from around here. My family: father Aarni, mother Kaija, brother Mikael, sister Jenna and our two dogs, yellow Labrador Retriever Honey and Giant Schnauzer Dora (Isadora). We have lots of artists in our family, my sister studies art, my father builds beautiful statues and both my mother and brother are gifted too. I also plan to go study art, although I'd also love to study biology in university, but well, why not do both. I am also really fond of photography and I think that's something which will be a big part of my life in the future.

I like music, all kinds of music. It's rather hard to try to make a list of bands and musicians I like, because there's so many of them from so many different genres. Sometimes I like almost everything the artist has made, sometimes I like only one song, but that one has had a really big effect on me. Well, some names: Nick Cave, Dream Theater, 3 Doors Down, Nine Inch Nails, CMX, Alice in Chains, Enya, Leonard Cohen, Grossstadtgeflüster, Alice Cooper, Depeche Mode, Nightwish, Timo Rautiainen & Trio Niskalaukaus, Metallica, lots of others, and some aquarist musicians, Donya Quick and Jason Baliban.

I have always loved nature, water, lakes, rivers, ponds and puddles. I spent my childhood near the water and I loved being in our summer cottage next to lake Kankari, wading in shallow beach water, rowing a boat to a nearby island or just sitting on a rock and fishing. I spent hours like that, going out before others woke up, coming to eat after being called numerous times and going hesitantly to bed. It isn't a surprise that I got hooked in aquariums. I got my first aquarium 17 years ago and the addiction is just growing stronger. I have also been fascinated by frogs for as long as I can remember. And I finally got some poison dart frogs during Summe/Fall 2006, looks like that's an addiction I can't fight either.

I am filled with opposites - I love being with people, but most of the time I'd rather be alone, I am shy and talkative, serious and a bit mischievous, clumsy in real life and more fluent in virtual world and in writing. I am a bit too kind and it's hard for me to defend myself, but it's just that I'd love all of us to live in a harmonious world without fights and to treat others as we'd like to be treated, with respect and honesty.

After all the experiences and some rough time in the past, I have learned to appreciate life. And this is who I am, I am a bit different, but it doesn't mean that I am inferior (or superior). I have achieved lots of things, I have a loving family and good friends. Tomorrow has lots of fun and interesting things in store for all of us. Life is a fascinating journey to unknown and we all do the traveling in our own speed and in our own way.
